What's in Your Profile

Six validated data points. Built once. Ready for any landlord.

Your profile pulls together the information landlords actually need — validated, not just stated — so decisions move faster and you spend less time waiting.

01

Credit History

Your full credit report — score, payment history, balances — validated and included so landlords don't need to run a separate check.

Validated ✓
02

Income Validation

Your income and employment confirmed against actual records — not just what you write down. Shows landlords you're a reliable earner.

Validated ✓
03

Bank Statement Analysis

Three months of bank statements reviewed to confirm income consistency and financial stability — a fuller picture than a credit score alone.

Validated ✓
04

Rental History — Lease Ledger

Your prior rental payment record validated month-by-month — rent paid and whether you paid on time. The detail most tools skip, and the one landlords care most about.

Validated ✓
05

Background Check

A standard criminal background check included in your profile alongside all your other validated information — no extra step required.

Validated ✓
06

Identity & Document Check

Your profile is cross-checked for document consistency and identity accuracy. Any issues are flagged before submission — protecting you and the landlord.

Straight Talk

Things you should know before you build a profile.

A validated profile is a powerful tool, but it's not a guarantee. Here's the plain version of how this works — including the parts that aren't all upside.

Good to know
Your profile is private until you share it

We don't share your profile with any landlord without you taking action. You submit it to a listing or generate a share link — those are the only ways it leaves your account.

Be aware
A validated profile is not a guarantee of approval

Your profile shows landlords validated information about you. The leasing decision — whether to rent to you — is always made by the landlord, not RentSmart. A strong profile improves your chances; it's not a lease guarantee.

Your rights
If you're declined, you're entitled to an explanation

If a landlord declines to rent to you, federal law requires them to provide an adverse action notice — a formal explanation that includes the reason and the data sources used. RentSmart supports that process.

Good to know
Your data isn't sold or used for advertising

RentSmart is funded by the one-time profile fee — not by selling your personal data or using it for advertising. Your information is used to build and validate your profile, and that's it.

Be aware
Your profile reflects your actual information

RentSmart validates what you provide against real records. If your credit, income, or rental history has challenges, your profile reflects that accurately. It's not possible to edit or selectively present your validated data.

Good to know
One fee. No rebuild required for each property.

You pay a one-time fee to build your profile. After that, submitting to participating listings is included — you won't pay a new fee every time you're interested in a different property.

Renter FAQ

Questions prospective tenants ask most.

Question 01

How much does a RentSmart profile cost?

A one-time profile fee. After that you can submit your profile to any participating RentSmart listing, share a secure link with any landlord, and download a PDF — all included. There are no per-listing or per-submission fees once your profile is built.

Question 02

What if a landlord doesn't use RentSmart?

You can still use your profile. Generate a secure shareable link and send it to any landlord — or download a clean PDF of your verified profile and present it alongside any rental inquiry. Your profile belongs to you, not to RentSmart's platform.

Question 03

Does a RentSmart profile guarantee I'll be approved?

No. A validated profile shows landlords verified information about you, which can move things faster and reduce friction — but the leasing decision is always made by the landlord, not RentSmart. A strong profile improves your odds; it isn't a lease guarantee.

Question 04

Who can see my profile?

Only you, until you take action. RentSmart never shares your profile with any landlord on its own. The only ways your profile leaves your account are when you submit it to a listing or generate a share link — both are your call.

Question 05

What happens if I'm declined?

Federal law requires landlords to provide an adverse action notice when they decline an applicant — a formal explanation of the decision and the data sources used. RentSmart supports this process so you receive proper documentation if a landlord declines.

Question 06

Can I edit what's in my profile?

Your profile reflects validated information against actual records. You provide the inputs, but the verification process pulls from real sources — credit bureaus, employment records, bank statements, prior lease ledgers — so the data is accurate. You can't selectively present some validated data and hide others.

No cost. No catch.
